Project Overview

The John Street Condo is an ambitious residential project set at the base of the Niagara Escarpment in Hamilton, Ontario. It comprises three distinct mixed-use condominium towers, each rising twenty-two storeys from a shared multi-level podium base that contours thoughtfully with the John Street streetscape and is served by an underground garage. The site’s most defining characteristic is also its greatest challenge: steep sloping conditions run the length of the podium, and rather than resist that topography, the design works with it—generating multiple entry points to the three towers from a series of plateaus and turning a difficult grade into a rich, layered sequence of arrival. Along John Street, commercial elements extend the active, urban edge of the development, animating the public realm and knitting the project into the surrounding neighbourhood. At the heart of the site, an elevated amenity terrace offers communal gardens and shared outdoor space—a green, sheltered core that gives residents a collective retreat elevated above the street. The result is a bold, escarpment-anchored landmark that turns a demanding site into a defining architectural opportunity.
